Back on Track
The inspiration for the Van Cortlandt Grand Shorts came from a pair of team-issued women’s track shorts from our founder’s vintage archives. We’ve long admired the silhouette – the key to the style is the arced hemline at the sides, which ensures a full range of motion even in a longer inseam. Reimagined using our 2:09 Mesh, these luxurious and lightweight 4” shorts are built for performance, featuring a considered, comfortable liner, two drop-in pockets, and an adjustable drawstring.
- Featuring two drop-in pockets built-in to the liner
- Classic running shorts with a channeled drawstring
- Finished with our embroidered hare and racing stripe detail
- Made in a luxurious and lightweight performance mesh
- 2:09 Mesh: 82% Polyester, 18% Spandex, 145gsm
- Tricot Mesh with Antimicrobial Finish
- Odor Protection
- Moisture-Wicking
- Wash cold. Do not bleach. Tumble dry low.
- A more relaxed running short with a 4” inseam, featuring a built-in liner, an elasticated drawstring waistband, and a comfortable rise that offers more coverage than the classic Van Cortlandt Shorts.

Key Features
Classic Performance
These shorts are designed to hit that sweet spot between not too long and not too short, with a modest 4” inseam silhouette, a channeled drawstring waistband, and a roomier rise.
Liner Notes
The shorts feature a lightweight liner in the same antimicrobial mesh as the body. Two pockets for keys, credit cards, or gels sit at the back interior of the waistband.
A Mesh with Merit
The 2:09 Mesh came to be, not only for its soft and airy texture, but also for its antimicrobial properties. With the funk-free finish, the shorts are built to battle bacteria.
Reviews for the Van Cortlandt Grand Shorts
The Purple Runner
Inspired by the profound practice of running painted by the words in “The Purple Runner”, the cult running novel by Paul Christman, this collection transforms some of our classic pieces into a new colorway – not only as a way to honor the cult classic, but as an ode to the craft of running. In a corner of London where the tangle of city streets is traded for a rugged landscape, Hampstead Heath helps us discover a story much like our own. One that traces the trials and triumphs of running, the intention that’s put into the effort, and the transcendence between sport and self.
